Home Delivered Meal Program

Home Delivered meals are designed to assist home-bound seniors with their dietary needs. This program offers a hot meal five days a week with the option for frozen meals on Saturday and Sunday.

To be eligible you must be 60 years of age or over, be unable to drive and/or unable to prepare food for a meal. We can provide a meal if you are a caretaker for a senior that is receiving the meals.

Nearly 50,000 meals were delivered in 2016 to eligible seniors within Houghton and Keweenaw Counties.

What Does It Cost?  The suggested donation is $4.00

Please call: (906) 483-1155

“Dear Senior Meals, Thank you for your wonderful service. I’ve truly appreciated the meal delivery each day and the contact with the delivery person. The social contact has been as important and the food tasty as well.

Now that I’ve recovered enough to cook again, I’m asking you to terminate the service, someone else needs you more than I.”

Congregate Meal Program

Congregate Meals are designed for the 60+ age group who are able to drive. People come together at one of our four sites to enjoy a meal and some company. If interested in attending, please call our office at 906-483-1155 at least one day in advance so that we can send the correct amount of food to each site. If you wish to attend any of the sites, please call Copper Country Senior Meals and reserve a spot.

To be eligible: You must be 60 years old or older. That’s it!

We are happy to announce that the Congregate Meal Site program is resuming in mid-July. After a long year of isolation, the seniors are looking forward to meeting and socializing with one another.

All sites are opening, following guidance and protocols from the local health department, UPCAP, and the Upper Peninsula Area Agency on Aging. Each of the Congregate Meal Sites: welcomes mask wearing when possible and appropriate, has enhanced cleaning procedures, and the availability of hand washing facilities and/or sanitizer. While vaccinations aren’t required by the attendees, many staff and attendees have been vaccinated. We are concerned about everyone’s safety and are looking forward to offering social situations in as safe of a manner as possible.

The following sites will open in July, 2021:

Lakeview Manor (opens July 19, 2021) – five days per week, Monday-Friday

Keweenaw Pines (opens July 21, 2021) – five days per week, Monday – Friday

“A note of sincere appreciation to everyone at Senior Meals…Thank You for making this service available to our community! Due to Senior Meals, Mom was able to enjoy some time living at Arbor Green. We had the assurance that meal time was taken care of, one less thing to have to be concerned about, We truly appreciate the time and effort each individual donates to this service. The community is blessed through your efforts.”
